Forward to the Future
Our inherent human interest in exploring new worlds improves our perspective on global issues, but often faces political, ethical, social and technical obstacles.
You will explore ways in which science can facilitate human curiosity and endeavor and why this is necessary to the future of our society. In this project, you will develop a tool that makes use of light, mirrors and lenses to see things differently. In conjunction, you will read a science fiction novel and search for the author’s allegory. You will then explain your “lens,” or your perspective, of the allegory and compare and contrast yours to a member of our community.
Essential Questions:
How does our understanding of light allow us to see things differently? Why is it important to see things through a different lens? What inspires authors to write?
